COLBY, Kan. – (Monday, June 1, 2022) A series of four free parent coaching classes will be offered every Monday evening starting June 1 through June 22 in Colby, announces Maureen Ostmeyer of LiveWell Northwest Kansas. Free childcare and an evening meal will be provided during each class. Additionally, Ostmeyer says that parents will receive $100 after completing the course.
“Classes last from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. every Monday night” explained Ostmeyer, a Certified Parent Educator. “We always incorporate an evening meal and free childcare with classes to make it easier for parents to attend. Plus, it’s fun and helpful to visit with families over dinner. We get to know each other better and that gives me a better opportunity to serve our parents.”
Ostmeyer says the class is part of LiveWell Northwest Kansas’ Nurturing Parenting program. The curriculum is internationally recognized for enhancing a parents’ self worth, empathy skills, disciplinary behavior and methods, and improving a sense of empowerment.
“The Nurturing Parenting program is a way to learn how to be a better parent while having fund and growing closer to your family,” added Ostmeyer.
“Dr. Stephen Bavokek, author of the program says that the class is based on a philosophy that supports children being raised in a caring home that nourishes their self worth, that promotes their sense of personal empowerment and cooperation, makes appropriate developmental expectations of them, and treats everyone in the family with respect,” says Ostmeyer.
The Nurturing Parenting program offered by LiveWell is staffed by trained facilitators that bring a wide berth of experiences in parenting, and honesty about their own failures and successes. Completing the program can lead to better connections with children, with spouses and other family members, and with yourself.
The program is designed for the whole family, adds Ostmeyer. Not only is the class free to attend, offers a free meal and childcare, but parents who successfully complete the class will receive a certificate and a $100 completion bonus.
